I spend a lot of time doing in-depth product research for clients, and as a result, I uncover a lot of untapped opportunities. I recently added to my ebook, 205 Product Ideas for Small Business designed to give you all the inspiration you need.. Here are just a few of my favorite product ideas from my ebook:
Shower Steamers for Babies & Kids: Shower steamers release aromatherapy scents during use. In the last three years, demand has more than doubled, with searches particularly high from November to February. Also known as shower fizzers, fizzies, or bombs, no one sells them for babies and young kids. When your child is congested, taking them with you in a hot steamy shower helps to open up their nasal passages, especially if using a shower steamer with a scent like eucalyptus. Just make sure they are scents that are safe for babies and kids.
Thanksgiving Recipe Dish Towel Set: Every year, “How to Cook a Turkey” is the top Google search the day before Thanksgiving. So why not create a set of three Thanksgiving-theme dish towels, where one is printed with directions on how to cook a turkey, one printed with directions on how to make stuffing, and one printed with directions on how to make cranberry sauce.
Personalized Family City Signs: For several years now, the personalized wall sign market on Etsy has been hot. Therefore, why take those signs you see when you enter a city’s limits, and create personalized ones using family names. Makes a great housewarming gift. i.e. Welcome to Wilson Town, population 5.
Table Top Versions of Kids’ Playsets: Many parents live in a small space or apartment, so play kitchens and toy workshops can take up a lot of space. Therefore, making tabletop versions of these toys allows them to take up less floor space as well as tuck out of site when not in use, like under a bed or couch.
Bridesmaid Track Suits: Bridesmaid robes are a top seller, but they have been done to death. With comfort clothing so popular right now, why not create personalized bridesmaid track suits or warm up suits where you’re team bride!
Storybook Portraits: A lot of artists offer personalized illustrated portraits of children and pets, but why not make it more interesting and create a portrait that turns them into a mythical storybook character or animal. Or for Christmas, turn them into a gingerbread man!
Market Bag with Compartment for Meat: Worried that your fresh meat purchases will leak into your other groceries? Come up with a market bag that has a front waterproof-lined pocket just for meat. Products that find solutions to everyday problems always sell well.
Travel Enamel Pins: Design “I’ve Been Everywhere” pins that resemble stamps of cities, states, or countries that people can collect to mark off where they’ve been. But it should say something like, “Been to Paris” or “Paris was fun”. Fun to collect and pin to your travel backpack.
Fire Blankets: Fire blankets surged in popularity after the California wildfires, as people began seeking a reliable, fire-resistant tool to quickly smother small flames or protect themselves while evacuating an area affected by fire.
Labeled Garment Bags: People love organizational products, especially closet organization. I think that the idea of garment bags that are labeled with either seasonal labels i.e. Summer Suits or by occasion i.e. Wedding Suit. They could also be labeled for days of the week to help organize outfits for the week, for both adults and kids.
