Need ways to get your small business noticed in April? Well I have some very easy April Marketing Ideas for Small Business that should do the trick!
Easy Marketing Ideas for April
Let’s start by looking at some of the occasions, holidays, and national days in April that you can take advantage of. There are many, but here are the ones I think have the most marketing potential.
Full Moon / Pink Moon (April 1st)
Post a photo of tonight’s full moon (also known as the Pink Moon so add a filter for fun) with your business in the foreground if possible.
Easter (April 5th)
Sponsor a local Easter egg hunt or offer free Easter coloring pages as a downloadable resource on your website (searches for these reach nearly 500,000 every April). Add your company branding to the pages so families who download them remember your business. For retail, an in-store Easter egg hunt is always a fun event.
One of my favorite ideas I came up with years ago for a landscaping company was to shape a large tree or shrub into a giant bunny and invite the community to stop by and take photos with it (sort of like posing with Santa Claus). Again, make sure your company name appears by the bunny and encourage people to tag you when they share the photo on social media.
National Beer Day (April 7th)
This one is obviously great for restaurants and bars to do a special two-for-one beer promotion, but any company could post a fun poll on social media asking people to rank their favorite beers, or match the beer to the country it is from. Get creative!
The Masters (April 9-12)
Any business can put a TV in their lobby or store window showing the Masters Golf Tournament as a way to get passer-bys to stop in.
National Pet Day (April 11th)
If you are the type of business that regularly lets their employees bring their pets to work, set up a PR opportunity with a local newspaper, a few weeks prior, to come in and photograph your pets in the office for national pet day, which results in some free publicity for your business.
Tax Day (April 15th)
Send out a friendly email reminder to your customer base, simply reminding them about the tax deadline. It’s a great opportunity to poke your customers without looking like that’s what you’re doing.
Earth Day (April 20th)
This is another great PR opportunity, where you could convince a local reporter to write a story about businesses who are adopting sustainable practices, and include yours (if you have some eco-friendly practices and/or products).
Adopt a Shelter Pet Day (April 30th)
Cute animals always do well on social media, so for National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, why not do some good at the same time and go down to your local animal shelter, take a photo of a pet that needs a home, and post it to Instagram asking all of your followers to “like” it. I guarantee it will get shared along with your business name and logo.
