My 30-second read blog posts give you a quick hit of marketing or small business knowledge.

Two Sales Tips for Quick Sales

Have you ever tried running a 24-hour sale? They truly are the most effective type of sales promotion because they get people to act quickly, especially if there is a tick down showing how much time there is left before the sale ends. Another key sales trick is to say “limited stock” or “only 10 left” or “selling out quickly”. This too will get people to act.

Blog Ideas for an Online Store

Content marketing is a great way to drive traffic through SEO. The key is to focus on content that will attract your ideal customer, particularly if based on how they search.
x
For example, let’s say that you are selling dog products. Since you are targeting dog owners,  there is a variety of content you can post that your potential customers will be searching on. Then, as a result, they will hopefully stumble upon your online shop via your blog posts.
x
You can find ideas for blog posts based on using Google’s auto-complete feature. You start by typing in “dogs”, “French bulldogs”, “dog lovers” etc., and see what longer search phrases come up. This is a good way to determine potential blog titles and content.

Some blog ideas based on top Google searches:

  • 5 Awesome Monthly Subscription Boxes for Pet Owners
  • 8 Boston Terrier Puppy Training Tips
  • 20 Male Dog Names & Their Meaning
  • 12 Non-Shedding Dog Breeds
  • 10 of the Cutest Puppy Videos on YouTube

You do not always have to write original content, you can curate content for your blog as long as you give credit to the original source.

Now, because you are primarily an e-commerce site and not a blogger by trade, you just have to post once a week. For a pet store, you may want to make it on #WoofWednesday. The point is, the optimized content stays around for years bringing you a constant and steady stream of traffic.

You can also upsell your products within your blog posts, much like I do here 🙂

By the way, you need an SEO optimized blog post written for your ecommerce blog, I do offer this service.

5 Creative Marketing Ideas If You Sell Kids and Baby Products

Do you need creative marketing ideas if selling kids and/or baby products? Getting your products in front of parents is obviously a key component to finding success in this market. Below are just a few of the creative tactics from my 12-Month Marketing Plan for Online Kids & Baby Shops to inspire you.

5 Creative Marketing Ideas If You Sell Kids & Baby Products
1. Magazines’ Baby Registry Features

All the major pregnancy magazines have a regular feature in every issue where they recommend baby products for a new mom to choose for her baby registry. Approach the writer or editor of this section with one or more of your products for their consideration. If they mention, be sure to add a “As Featured In” badge to your product photos.

2. Local Marketing

Selling online doesn’t mean you have to ignore local customers, you might really want to support a local business. Therefore, inquire at local gyms and fitness centers if there are any opportunities to sponsor Mommy and me classes.

3. Free Local Advertising

You know those window shades that people put in their car’s backseat window to keep the sun off of a baby? They present a great advertising opportunity if you put your shop name and url on the side visible to other drivers. Give one to every member of your family to really extend your reach locally.

4. Social Media Ideas

Do not just post your products. Post content moms might like and try to get them to engage, such as:

  • Post a photo of a favorite celebrity mom for #WomanCrushWednesday and ask followers theirs.
  • Post a list of your favorite kid’s movies and ask followers theirs.
  • Post your favorite destinations for spring break family beach vacations for #TravelTuesday and ask followers theirs.
5. Offer a Free Download

Change up your email opt-in incentive to include a free coloring printable, for special holidays or seasons, that of course clearly has your shop name and url on it. Even give a stack of these printables to local family restaurants to hand out to kids.

3 Creative Ways To Circulate Your Business Card

Need a few Creative Ways To Circulate Your Business Card?

A business card is still a cost-effective way to advertise your online business. Make sure the card has a design that really gets attention, your shop url is large and clearly noticeable and it is obvious what you sell.

Here are three ideas to really circulate your card to your local market:

Business Cards in Packages of Complimentary Shops

Contact five online shops that are in the same city as you, but are complimentary vendors, not competitors. Agree to include their shop’s business card in the packages you send to your customers in exchange for them doing the same for you.

Business Cards Attached to Holiday Treats

Buy a few boxes of candy canes. Attach your business card and leave on the windshield of parked cars at the mall. Or, if your town is having a Christmas parade, hand out the candy canes to bystanders watching.

Post Your Cards at Friends & Family’s Workplace

A lot of businesses have a fridge magnet made up of their business card, HOWEVER, ask friends and family to put it on the refrigerator in the lunch room of their WORK PLACE, and it will get seen by a lot more people. You could also stick the magnets on the back of washroom doors in office buildings. Most people will think you paid to put them there. Related content: 35 Free Business Card Templates
